A little insight...

Purple Tabono... What does it mean!?! It has absolutely nothing to do with traveling...

When I turned 20 I decided to get a tattoo. I had always wanted one but knowing it lasts forever I took my time deciding what and where I would have an image sketched on my body. I had rules about it though... It couldn't be seen on my wedding day and it had to be placed somewhere where it wouldn't lose it's integrity.

My tattoo is a purple tabono on the arch of my left foot; the foot closest to the starting line. Every time I raced, it's where my eyes gazed.

So what is it? Tabono is an Adinkra symbol. They were first used as decorative elements in one of the most highly valued, hand-printed and hand-embroidered cloths of West Africa. What does it mean? Tabono represents two oars that cross; the 'paddles' used through unsure waters. It symbolizes strength and perseverance.

Oh, and did I mention... it's purple!!!

I send my love. Talk soon...
