After only a few days in Marbella I hurt myself. How? I don't know. I never really know. This is very typical for me so I'm not surprised. I have a tendency to injury myself. Nevertheless, life goes on.
I recently had a conversation with a new friend and he was right when he asked, why do people only ask 'why' when something bad happens. I almost caught myself dwelling over 'why this had happened now, to me, while I was in Spain' instead of enjoying my time here.
I had read the message below somewhere in the past and thought I'd repeat it here. I believe it applies to my trip...
'This is your life. Do what you love, and do it often. If you don't like something, change it. If you don't like your job, quit. If you don't have enough time, stop watching TV. If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love. Stop over analyzing, life is simple. All emotions are beautiful. When you eat, appreciate every last bite. Open your mind, arms, and heart to new things and people, we are united in our differences. Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them. Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself. Some opportunities only come once; seize them. Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them, so go out and start creating. Live your dream, and wear your passion. Life is short.'
The sentence, "Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them, so go out and start creating" really made me think about how I could choose to react to my new injury. I spent all day Sunday with a 64 year old woman, Gisela from Germany. What pleasant company. She showed me that no matter your age, you can always be learning, growing, and really living. Here are some pictures from our day biking along the Costa de Sol.
Every once in a while she would speak to me in German and look at me like I was crazy for not replying. We had a few good laughs over the language barrier.
There are also some pictures of some of my other classmates.
Un beso y hasta pronto...
I was a regular at two different helanderias. La Fabrica was my home on the ouste of the beach. I couldn't get ice cream from the same place everyday. This is where I met an Italian and a Californian who aer starting a restaurant just around the corner. It'll be up and running when I return to Marbella in June. I'm existed to try it out.
Nothing like some agua, freshly made zumos de pina, and a sucker. One of our many bike breaks.
Gisela.
Aurora Beach... I have my own beach... I'm kind of a big deal around here.
Five euros to rent a bike seemed like a pretty good deal!
Espetos de sardines is very popular from mayo through agosto along Costa del Sol.
El gimnasio...
