Tres dias en España...

Hola!!! I've now been in Spain for 3 days and it already feels like I've been gone for weeks. Not because I miss home. Obviously I love and miss everyone back home. But the days feel so long. En España meals are eaten at a completely different time of the day. Desayunar (breakfast) is eaten early only because of class which starts at 9:30am. Comer (lunch) doesn't happen until 2:30pm. If you know anything about me... Not eating from 9:30pm until 2:30pm is almost impossible! Obviously I pack snacks! Obviously. Last is cenar (diner) which is consumed at 9:00pm. I am beginning to really enjoy going to bed at midnight. Could be all the vino (wine)! I used to be an old woman who liked to go to bed before 10:00pm! Ha!

What else can I tell you about Marbella... The weather is perfect for sunbathing, running, enjoying meals outdoors, walking for hours, everything... Literally perfect!! The water is too cold for my liking. Lots of topless women. This has it's pros and cons because anything goes... Anything. Yikes. Lots of kisses being given. To be honest, I'm enjoying introductions to strangers.

At the moment my host Luisa has two other students. Both are older women; Marleen is from Belgium and Natalia is from Russia. I watched Natalia dance flamenco today! Ah caramba! Muy difícil! She did great! Marleen leaves tomorrow after staying with Luisa for 2 and a half weeks. What a wonderful lady! If my Spanish is fluent by the end of July I will visit her in Belgium before going to Amsterdam with my friend Mirko. She told me I can only visit if I'm fluent. Perfect incentive!

On Thursday Natalia and I are going dancing! Salsa y bachata! I love dancing so I'm excited! Tomorrow, Wednesday, aside from school I don't have many plans. Luisa has to work ALL day! She works two jobs; at a hotel and a school. She works extremely hard to make sure we all have good meals and are happy with our accommodation.

I'm already wishing I could stay longer in Marbella with Luisa. Her and the profesora Ana are fantástico! Ana came and visited me at Luisa's home today. She wanted me to meet her little hijo! What a cutie! Muy guapo! Seriously debating asking to stay longer. I'll keep you posted.

There are only three other people in my class so it's very personal. Two of my classmates are married and from The Netherlands. The other is a professional golfer, Ryan Parfett. Him and his family just moved to Marbella from Turkey. He's originally from England but it sounds like they have moved around plenty.

It's funny; no matter what country, city, place I'm in, everyone takes note of my laugh and smile. With the amount of mistakes I make, I giggle constantly. I seriously haven't stopped smiling. Oh and my last name, even with my classmates from The Netherlands and England, Nagazina was the center of conversation on Monday. What is Nagazina!?!? One last name was Koekkoek and MY last name was interesting! Really?!?

Side note, Marbella, or perhaps Spain in general is not the place to go on a diet. The food and wine is delicious! Mucho diferentes para bueno! I have fallen in love with gelato! Confession. I have eaten a small bowl each day so far. Don't judge me... I go to the same place for helados (ice cream) each day. The old man who serves me is so sweet! He doesn't speak English so its perfect!

Class is about to start. The internet here is impossible so I will add pics but they won't be where I want them to be...

Un beso y hasta pronto...

I finally have internet and can comment on my photos... Above is my first Spanish bedroom. I have a room to myself while Natalia and Marleen are in the next room. Luisa is an absolute doll!
Luisa lives on the third floor of her apartamento and this is the tiny elevator. It BARELY fits the four of us!

Futbol! Luisa loves futbol! She´s very amusing when there is a game on.

Queso y jamon! Muy popular!
Sunscreen. Towel. Bikini. Tons of sunshine. Check!
Luisa can´t get over how quickly I tan. When I told her my mom was part native she nearly turned over in laughter. She was in complete disbelief!

Thís is all you need to do for the waiter to bring you the cheque... Just rub your fingers together. Only `problem is, the person who rubs their fingers pay the bill... haha
